When choosing a popular location to take your engagement photos in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA is crucial to have two things in mind: the time and the spots.
When my beautiful and lovely couple told me they wanted to take their engagement photos at Balboa Park in San Diego, I was stocked.
The park has so many different scenarios and spots you can use to create beautiful compositions and outstanding pictures, but it can also be really crowded very quickly.
Knowing about how crowded the park could be, I’ve decided to schedule our photography session early during the day, and we started shouting around 8:30 am. By that time, not a lot of people were walking around the park and it was easy to find a parking lot nearby the spots I wanted to shoot at.
The first thing we did when we got to the park was to choose the spots we wanted. I had a pretty good idea about the scenarios I wanted to use, but I wanted to make sure I could use all of them.
Well, I’m glad I did quick scouting before our session started because they were construction going on and some of the spots I had planned were inaccessible.
It was easy for me to adapt and to pick 5-6 different sports at the park for the engagement session. Especially because prior to the shoot, I had two conversations with my couple. I knew a little bit about them, their personality, their story, what they were going to wear for their session. All this information helped me to plan and create a stunning engagement photos gallery, that you can check out below.
Fun Fact: Audrey and Cody are high-school sweethearts and this was one of their very first times taking professional photos. I can’t wait to cover their wedding. 🥰
We started taking the photos at the Desert Garden, then we moved to the Rose Garden. We couldn’t miss all the architecture of the beautiful museums, and the classic photo in front of the Botanical Building. Then we finish our session in front of the Spreckles Organ Pavilion.
I had so much fun with this lovely and sweet couple! And I am also loving to write about the behind-the-scenes with my couples and families. There is so much to share and I can’t wait to talk to you in our next post!!
